It is September 2005, and First Coast Railroad’s daily train from Fernandina, Fla. to Yulee is crossing the Amelia River movable deck on its 12-mile trek at 25 mph. Yulee is not far away from here, and sometimes, as traffic requires, the trains travel another 15 miles or so to Kingsland, Ga. First Coast, a Genesee & Wyoming subsidiary, has leased the ex-CSX line for 20 years.
